Midnight on a Dead Man's Boat: Now you can get Bryan Paul Bell's first full-length album on high-quality, 180-gram vinyl. This high-energy production was recorded during the pandemic lockdown, so Bryan performed every instrumental and vocal part in his Long Beach, California, studio.
The album's second track, "Ripped a Stitch," spent ten weeks in the top-ten on the World Indie Music charts. The tracks are wonderfully inconsistent in their styles. Bryan's restless quest for variety has given the world of music a collection that spans the lexicon of American and British rock—you won't get bored sailing through the ten tracks this album offers.
How the album got its name: Midway into the project, Bryan and his brother were tasked with returning a sailboat to California from Cabo San Lucas when the owner had died suddenly on the boat. The brothers took turns throughout the night navigating the rough waters. Alone at the helm on those moonlit nights , Bryan noticed that the rhythm of the waves and the clanking of the boats rigging began to sound like music. "It almost sounded like there was a radio playing somewhere off in the distance," he recounted.—even though they were miles from the coast with no other boats nearby. When he was considering names for the project, Bryan recalled that strange phenomenon and settled on Midnight on a Dead Man's Boat.
